What are African box braids?
They are individual braids all over the head, each from its own even section (the “box”). I braid kanekalon in with the full-cover method: your hair is hidden inside and the braid is smooth from root to tip. The standard length is about 60 cm, but I can do any length.
- Long-lastingYou wear them for 1–1.5 months, not a few days.
- No stylingIn the morning just tie them in a ponytail or bun.

How many braids to choose?
- 25–30 braidsThick braids, the shortest work.
- 40–50 braidsMedium thickness, the most popular choice.
- 60–80 braidsThinner and lighter.
- 90–100 braidsFine braids, the most volume.
You can also have the braids as a reusable set: I make it once, and then just braid it in again. Shorter and quicker: boxer braids.

What the visit looks like
- ConsultationYou send a photo of your hair and some inspiration, and we agree on the number of braids, colour and length.
- BraidingFrom about 5 hours (25–30 braids) to 10+ hours (90–100 braids). With more than 100 braids we split the visit over two days.
- AftercareYou get a guide on washing, sleeping and taking the braids out.
Frequently asked questions
1–1.5 months. I do not recommend longer: the new growth at the roots starts to tangle and is harder to unbraid later.
No, if the weight is evenly distributed and you take them out on time. Your hair rests from daily styling under the braids.
Every 7–10 days. Dilute shampoo with water, foam it up and apply the foam only to the partings. Just rinse the braids themselves and dry them well.
At least about 7–10 cm. If it is shorter, send me a photo.
Yes, from 4 years old.
It should not. For the first 2–3 days your scalp may feel slightly tight — that is normal and passes quickly.
Wash it the evening before with shampoo only — no masks or conditioner — and dry it thoroughly.
